Advocacy

The Ohio Association of Area Agencies on Aging (o4a) is a leading voice for Ohio’s older adults, people with disabilities, and their caregivers. We work closely with elected and appointed officials at all levels of government to ensure that policies, programs, and services meet the needs of those we serve.

Our advocacy efforts include:

  • Maintaining an ongoing dialogue with policymakers about the challenges and opportunities facing Ohio’s aging population.

  • Initiating and championing legislation that supports older Ohioans, their families, and the programs they rely on.

  • Monitoring and tracking bills of interest to the aging network as they move through both state and federal legislative processes.

  • Hosting our biennial Advocacy Conference and Legislative Reception during the state budget process—bringing together national speakers, state advocates, and policy leaders to share the latest developments affecting aging and disability services.

To keep our members informed and engaged, o4a provides a weekly Legislative and Policy Bulletin with timely updates on legislation, budget decisions, and advocacy opportunities.
